To Have An Obedient Heart

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you were obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed. - Romans 6:17 I had already chosen the title for my novel, "Obedient Heart," without knowing why. I only knew that the Lord had given me a story to write about a woman's challenge to adhere to her Christian principles when faced with today's sensual world. The novel was almost finished before I came across the Scripture verse that supported the title. I've lived on both sides of an obedient heart, believing for many years the lies the world spewed to fool women into believing we could do it all and have it all. Returning to the Biblical truth brought peace and contentment. I no longer yearned to do and have it all. His grace is sufficient to me. If I could live my life over, I would choose to live like Jennifer, the protagonist in "Obedient Heart." She isn't perfect. She struggled with alcohol when faced with a tragic loss, and won the battle...with the Lord's help. Now she must locate her missing brother while two strange men stalk her. FBI agents set up surveillance, and her friends chose this time to introduce her to Captain Jack McGowan, a handsome airline pilot. At first, both Jennifer and Jack resent the friends' attempt to play cupid, but soon find themselves tumbling into a landslide of unequally-yoked love. If only Jack would trust in Christ as his Savior... . The Lord has given me the title for the sequel of my novel, "Steadfast Heart," about a man's choice of whether or not to allow doctors to abort his comatose wife's unborn child to save her life. At least ten more Christian novels are waiting to emerge from their cocoons in my computer. Each will be supported by a Scripture verse to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  1. Yay, Janet!! Glad to see you blogging. I love the teaser for Obedient Heart--very good, looks like you've been polishing that book-jacket blurb :). I signed up to follow, but for some reason my photo didn't show up. Hmmm, I guess I'll have to check back later. You need to add a link to my website, though: www.findingangel.com
